Frequently Asked Questions
Placing an order
Why do I need to arrange an appointment for my quote?
No two properties are the same, so one of our friendly consultants will visit your property to determine quantity, size, finishes and more, before providing you with a competitive, no-obligation quote. We cannot provide prices online due to the vast amount of product configurations available – there is no ‘standard’ window, door, conservatory or roofline to base a price on.
Will my order be made to measure?
Yes – all
Can I spread the cost of my order?
Yes – At Weatherseal we believe that making improvements to your home shouldn’t leave you facing a huge bill so we offer multiple way to pay, including financing your order through our Account Option.
Whether you’re looking for double glazed windows, conservatories, doors or roofline products, with Weatherseal you can spread the cost over monthly payments to suit your budget. You can also make additional payments as you wish, giving you the option to reduce the term of the loan. Our consultant will be able to discuss your options in detail with you after they have provided you with your quote. You can find out more about our Account Option here >
How long does a free quotation appointment last?
As every order we manufacture is designed specifically to suit your property, each appointment time will vary, however the average length of an appointment is normally 1 to 2 hours. Our experienced consultants will take the time to listen to you and find out exactly what it is you are looking for, then use their knowledge and experience to discuss with you the most suitable options.
How long can I expect to wait between ordering and installation?
Weatherseal offers an express delivery system if required. This means that you could have your new double-glazing units and doors installed within 10 days, subject to the complexity of the order and product type.
Survey and Installation
What do I need to do or think about in preparation of the survey?
There will be minimal disruption to your home during this visit, as we’ll just be inspecting and measuring. We will confirm where your new products will fitted and make sure you are happy with the style combinations you’ve chosen.
Do you outsource your installations to external tradesmen?
No. Our master installers are part Job Worth Doing and are the installation arm of our company. JWD are one of the UK’s leading installers of energy-efficient home improvement products.
What happens to my old products?
Our installers will carefully remove your old products and deliver them to one of our dedicated recycling centres for processing.
Do I need to be present for my installation?
Not necessarily, but we do ask that if you are unavailable, you arrange for someone else to be present during the installation. On completion, the homeowner must be available to confirm they are happy with the finished installation.
Manufacturing and Recycling
Where are your product manufactured?
All Weatherseal products are manufactured in the UK. These state-of-the-art facilities are some of the largest high-quality uPVC plants in the country, allowing us to provide our customers with an incredibly comprehensive range of home improvement products.
Do you use recycled materials in your manufacturing process?
Yes but it is important to note that any recycled materials used in our products does not affect their performance. The uPVC used in our products is thermal plastic, which means it can be repeatedly melted down and reformed, or recycled easily and cost-effectively. Throughout the manufacturing process we recycle everything we can, recreating everything from cills to panes.
How do your products compare to current building regulations?
Weatherseal uPVC profiles are manufactured to the highest specifications. When combined with our energy-efficient, A-rated double glazed units, our systems either meet or exceed all current building regulations, and provide excellent thermal protection against the loss of heat from your home.
How can your products help reduce energy consumption in my home?
We’ve incorporated a special coating into our glass products which helps to reflect heat back inside your home, reducing heat loss and therefore lowering energy consumption. This, combined with our high performance, double glazed, co-extruded units and weatherproof seals, will provide you with a thermally-efficient product and outstanding protection against adverse weather conditions.
What are the benefits of double-glazing?
Double glazed windows are one of the most popular home improvement methods available to property owners throughout the UK, however there are still many who are hesitant to replace their windows with double glazed ones. Yet, double glazed windows have several benefits over single-paned windows.
First of all, and probably the most important point, is how they can save you money. Double-glazed windows are composed of two panes of glass with an area of ‘dead air’ in between them (which is normally filled with a harmless, inert gas like argon or krypton which has superior insulation properties than normal air). This helps increase insulation by keeping warm air inside your home when they are closed. Tests performed by experts and government agencies in Great Britain, the United States, Canada and Australia have shown that you can save as much as 25-50% on your yearly heating and even cooling costs by upgrading your windows to double-glazed ones.
A second benefit is that double-glazing your windows makes them more secure than single paned windows due to having two layers of glass. Burglars often try gain entry via windows as they have inherent security weaknesses, yet the thicker panes on double glazed windows makes it harder to do this. Another benefit of thicker panes is that they decrease the chance of breaking or shattering when a hard object comes into contact with them, due to the increased density. Weatherseal goes one step further when it comes to windows security and install them with strong frames and other features as default, like friction hinges and hard-lipped security beads.
While it is perfectly natural for people to be concerned about the expense of installing double glazed windows, the long-term savings and peace of mind can far outweigh any initial costs.

How do I treat condensation build-up on my windows?
Condensation is a naturally occurring process. Ensuring that your home is well-ventilated will help to reduce the likelihood of condensation build-up. To ensure that condensation doesn’t reach an unacceptable level, maintain a low level of moisture in your home.
How can I make it easier to open/close my windows?
Ensure that the hinge tracks are clear of any debris, and that moving parts are sufficiently lubricated. If the problem persists, ensure that the hinge tension-adjusters are not too tight.
Why won’t my window open fully?
If you have had restrictor hinges fitted for safety purposes, release them by pressing the button on the restrictor, while pushing the vent outwards. Make sure the hinge tracks are also clear of any debris.

Why won’t my key unlock the door?
It may seem obvious, but the first thing to do is ensure that you are using the correct key! Then check it is fully inserted when you are trying to operate the lock. The handle should be raised fully. We will always ensure that all keys are operational before leaving your property.
Why won’t the lock fully engage?
Ensure that your door is fully closed. If the problem persists, test the locking mechanism with the door open. If the lock works, try again with the door closed. If your lock is stiff, lubricate the moving parts.
What if I’m having trouble opening/closing my door?
The special material used around doors will soften over time. At first, you may find that closing your doors or windows requires firm pressure, or that your doors are a little stiff. This ensures that the highest possible levels of draught-proofing are achieved; any stiffness will ease after a few weeks of continued use. You should also ensure that all tracks and interlock sections are clear of any debris.
What should I be doing to maintain the mechanisms in my doors?
We recommend that the moving parts (particularly the locking mechanisms) of your products are lubricated every six months or so. To do so, use a light oil (with exception to the lock cylinder), and wipe away any excess or spilled lubricants afterwards.
Use only graphite powder in the key slot to lubricate the lock cylinder – do not use any type of oil. Once every six months, apply graphite powder to your key and insert it into the lock cylinder. Turn your key back and forth, several times.
